A Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) has been extended against a man following a conviction for shop theft offences in Formby.
Paul McKenzie Stewart, 52, of St Edmonds Road, Bootle, was found guilty of three shop theft offences at the One Stop Shop on Cross Green after pleading not guilty.
At Sefton Magistrates' Court, Stewart was sentenced to 26 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 24 months. The court also imposed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) with additional restrictions lasting until 13 August 2028.
Under the order, Stewart is prohibited from entering:
One Stop Shop, Cross Green, Formby
Spar, Harington Road, Formby
South Road, Waterloo
Any B&M or Boots store in Merseyside
Derby Road, Southport
Sainsbury's, Liverpool Road, Crosby
Lidl, Virginia Street, Southport
Tesco Express, Coronation Road, Crosby
Merseyside Police said shop theft has a significant impact on businesses, staff and the wider community, and described Criminal Behaviour Orders as an important tool in tackling repeat offenders.
Police added that breaching the order is a criminal offence and could result in Stewart being arrested and returned to court, where he could face imprisonment.
