Effective date: 3 September 2026.

These terms cover everyone who uses the website, and — in the second section — local businesses that register to advertise.

Using the website

  • Content is provided in good faith but without warranty. In particular, level-crossing status and predictions are estimates for convenience — never rely on them for safety decisions; always obey signals and barriers at the crossing itself.
  • Articles, images and other content belong to Hello Formby or their credited owners. You may share links freely; don't republish content wholesale without permission.
  • Don't attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities, or use it to send spam.

Trader accounts and advertising

  • Accounts. You must give accurate business details and keep your login secure. You must verify your email address before purchasing. We may suspend accounts that break these terms; suspension blocks login and purchases but preserves your records.
  • Approval. Every advert is reviewed by the editor before it goes live. Payment does not guarantee publication — we may decline any advert at our discretion (for example, misleading claims, unsuitable content, or poor artwork quality). If we reject a paid advert, we refund the payment in full and cancel any subscription.
  • Changes. If we ask for artwork changes, your booking is held while you upload a replacement. Earlier artwork versions are retained for the record.
  • Refunds. Rejected adverts are refunded in full. Once an advert is live, fees are non-refundable except at our discretion. Partial refunds are not offered. For monthly subscriptions, cancelling stops future payments, and the month already paid for is not refunded.
  • Artwork. You confirm you have the rights to any artwork you upload, and that adverts comply with UK advertising rules (including the CAP Code). Adverts are always displayed distinctly from editorial content.
  • Prices and payment. Prices are shown before checkout. Hello Formby is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on advertising. Card payments are processed by Stripe, which holds your card details securely for renewals. We never see your full card number.
  • Monthly subscriptions. Some adverts are sold as a rolling monthly subscription. Your card is charged when you subscribe and then automatically on the same date each month until you cancel. Each successful payment extends your advert by one month. You can cancel at any time using the manage-billing link in your Stripe receipt emails, or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for, and that month is not refunded. If a renewal payment fails we will retry it and email you. If it still fails, your advert comes down at the end of the paid period. We will email you at least 30 days before changing a subscription price, and the new price applies from your next renewal after that notice.
  • Liability. Our total liability to an advertiser is limited to the amount paid for the campaign concerned.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions? Use the contact page.
