Residents around West Lane and Brewery Lane suffering with constant building noise.
Residents living near the Redrow housing development off West Lane have staged a protest over months of noise and vibration from piling works at the site.
Neighbours say the driven piling, used to prepare the ground for the 89-home development, has caused constant disruption since work began in April. Many claim the vibrations can be felt inside their homes and have made it difficult to enjoy their gardens, work nights or sleep during the day.
Campaigners, supported by Formby Parish Council, believe an alternative piling method could have been used which would have significantly reduced noise and vibration. They say independent technical reports commissioned by the parish council support that view, although Sefton Council approved the current method.
Some residents have also reported cracks appearing in walls and garden buildings, although no link to the piling has been established.
Following complaints from residents, Redrow has confirmed it will pause piling work during the summer months. The developer has also switched to a larger piling rig, which it says will reduce noise and vibration when work resumes.
Redrow said the piling method had been approved by Sefton Council's planning and environmental health teams and that inspections carried out on nearby homes have not identified any adverse effects.
The development will provide 89 new mixed-tenure homes in Formby.
