Brooms Cross Road, otherwise known as the Thornton bypass is set to close for eastbound traffic for nearly a week in August 2026 from the 17th to the 20th
Originally opened in August 2015, the key road needs to partially close this year for resurfacing works.
Motorists are advised to leave extra time for their morning commute during this week, and to follow the signposted diversion route through Thornton.
It is not the only road work on the way in and out of Formby: Hello Formby has also covered the 11-day closure of a key road into Formby and the Moss Lane bridge rebuild.
