A former cobbler's hut on Foster Road is currently being repurposed to serve a new function in the local community, HelloFormby can exclusively announce today.

Originally "Tickles Shoe Repairs" which closed in the 1990s it has served other uses, such as a cycle repair and mobile phone repair shop, but has been left unoccupied for the past few years.

Locals remember Tickles Shoe Repairs where they could buy Blakeys for their shoes, and many also commented on the high standard of work and friendly reception whenever they went in there.

The building is now being repurposed to be used for the purposes of supporting men's mental health, with a range of services to be on offer, including 1:1 counselling services. As such, it is set to be amongst the first dedicated facilities to focus on men's mental health.

For men, mental health can be a particularly difficult topic to deal with. Societal expectations around masculinity can deter men from expressing their emotions, leading to bottling up of their feelings or the perception that they should simply "man up". Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK.

HelloFormby welcomes the new proprietors to the area and wishes them the best of luck with their mission.
