Formby restaurant group behind Emily's & Penelope's falls into administration.

Residents advised to use any gift vouchers

Rebel Restaurants Group, the business behind Emily's in Formby, fell into administration this week on 10th August.

In a statement, Rebel Restaurants cited the mounting pressure on hospitality businesses, including the changes in employer National Insurance, rising wages, utility costs and the price of food.

Penelope's expected to follow suit

Whilst Emily's is said to be being saved, by a newly created company called "West Coast Dining Formby Ltd", HelloFormby understands that the Director of this company, Stephen Hampton has also recently formed "West Coast Dining Birkdale Ltd" and "West Coast Dining Liverpool Ltd"

This is significant as Penelope's, which is based in Birkdale, is also a Rebel Restaurants venture so it appears a similar approach may be being taken to this, as well as The Brunch and Cocktail club in Liverpool.

Locals advised to use any vouchers

As with any liquidation, vouchers may soon become void as they are assets held by a different entity. Whilst Rebel Restaurants have made no statement on the validity of vouchers at the present time, they have stated that there will be no impact to diners. Locals are advised to use their vouchers as soon as they can to avoid loss of stored value.
